Carl Wilhelm Schneeberger first decided in 1897 that ascending Cape Town's 3 Peaks all in one day was a good idea. Today on the first Saturday of November each year we commemorate that feat by taking up the challenge of ascending Devil's Peak, Table Mountain, via Platteklip Gorge to Maclear's Beacon and finally Lion's Head, returning to Greenmarket square in the city center after each peak.

The challenge is now an annual event cursed and loved by most who attempt it.
